About Me

 I was born late in 1970, which put me in the perfect position to be impacted by the heyday of Jim Henson's Muppets.  I was part of the audience raised on the early years of Sesame Street, watched The Muppet Show in first-run syndication, eagerly awaited their silver screen debut in 1979's The Muppet Movie, etc. I still recall the intense sadness I felt when Jim Henson died of sepsis in 1990.  For many years, I remained a "purist;" my knowledge of Muppet material from the first decade after his passing is still a bit lacking.  But I believe that today those who are the stewards of the company and its characters and legacy are attempting to build upon the sweetness, charm, and whimsy that first made me a fan. I have done a number of year-long projects in which I have used different lenses through which to explore the weekly Torah portions.  With this blog, I will attempt to draw connections between the Torah portions and some element of the Muppet pantheon.  I hope tha
